Castle ease into next round

Lullingstone Castle, last season’s runners-up, made smooth progress to the quarter-finals of the League Cup A by beating Swan Valley 5-0 on Saturday.

Their goals came from Billy King, James Carson, Luke Pearson, Steve Rogers and Sam Webster (penalty).

Also through to the last eight are Craggs Farm, who beat Stone C&I 5-2.

Stone held a 1-0 lead at the break through Kevin Gibbons but Craggs organised themselves for the second half and scored through Elijah Eastwood (3), Jason Loft and Darren Berry. Stone’s second goal came from Billy Kingwell.

Craggs Farm Reserves also went through beating Bean 3-0 with goals from Coaker (2) and Tony Love.

AFC Welsh Tavern beat Meopham 5-2 with goals from Danny Thomas (3), Ky Hall-Shelton and Paul Ellis.

Division 1 leaders Woodlands Athletic found last season’s Premier Division champions Viewpoint too strong in the final 15 minutes and went down 5-2.

At half-time they looked to be in with a chance with the score level at 2-2. Woodlands’ Neil Marshall met a cross from Peter Cheeseman with a overhead kick to score, before Viewpoint’s Dave Goodwin netted twice. Woodlands equalised through Ryan Haskins.

Dave Goodwin proved the matchwinner, though, scoring three late goals to see Viewpoint through to the quarter-finals.
