More new signings are expected at Ebbsfleet this month after Kuwaiti owner Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi reiterated his promise to back manager Jamie Day financially.

The arrival of striker Danny Kedwell from Gillingham on Tuesday underlined the Fleet’s spending power, although Dr Al-Humaidi insists the club will not bring in mercenaries.

He said: "We can get whoever we want but we want to attract players that want to play for this football club.

"There’s no use in bringing someone in (who just wants) the cheque at the end of the week, with no pride for the football club.

"We want players who are proud to play for Ebbsfleet and these players are certainly the ones we’re targeting.

"We want people to come and train every day and play every weekend with heart – and not any ordinary person who just comes and leaves without making a touch to this football club."
