GRAVESEND & Northfleet are supporting the "Week of Action" for the national charity Kick It Out.

The week is designed to raise awareness of racism and diversity and is being supported by all 92 Football League clubs in addition to the Nationwide Conference.

The Fleet plan to participate in this year’s initiative, beginning with an event during the next home game against Woking on Saturday, October 21.

Fleet In The Community liaison officer Rachel Willett said: "We’ll be recruiting 22 children from backgrounds within ethnic minorities, working closely with Lak Khaira of Gravesham Council.

"These 22 children will be lucky enough to lead out the two teams, as well as appearing on the pitch during the warm-up. We want to show supporters that we fully support the Kick It Out campaign."

Fleet will then run coaching sessions on two days – Wednesday, October 25 and Thursday, October 26 – for children within ethnic minority groups. The sessions, at Fleet Leisure, are designed to encourage children from more diverse backgrounds to get into football.

Fleet chairman Jason Botley said: "We are proud to be supporting this national campaign, which is being promoted right across the footballing world."
