Pennock: it's time we shaped-up

GRAVESEND & Northfleet's assistant manager Adrian Pennock has called on the players to get over their FA Cup hangover and take three points against Woking on Saturday.

Fleet were outplayed in their 3-0 defeat at Burton at the weekend and the result leaves them just two places above the relegation zone.

Pennock said the players will have to improve their commitment levels and get back to basics if they want to pick up a valuable win in Fleet’s last game before Christmas.

He said: “Hopefully the Burton display was a one off - a hangover from the FA Cup game. It really was a case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s Show’ and myself and Andy (manager Ford) were very unhappy after the game.

“The disappointing thing is the players didn’t compete. They raised themselves for the Sky cameras against Notts County but they have to do that week in and week out.”

The visitors to Stonebridge Road, Woking, are fifth in the table and will be a tough proposition.

Chris Moore is 50/50 for the game after picking up a dead leg in the Burton game and Paul Gibbs starts a three-match suspension after receiving a red card against Notts County. Dennis Oli will be back in contention for a place in the starting line-up.
