Bus became stuck on ice in Sandling Road, Hythe

Pupils “pushed a window out” of a school bus that became stuck on ice in a country lane.

The Crosskeys D run was taking Brockhill Park children from Folkestone, Sandgate and Seabrook to school in Saltwood, near Hythe, this morning when it was temporarily stuck.

It had pulled to one side near Sandling station in Saltwood to give way to oncoming cars because the road is narrow.

It was just minutes from the school gates but was able to pull away again shortly afterwards.

Transport manager Nigel Hatcham said that initial reports that the coach had lost control on ice and struck a bollard were not true.

Mr Hatcham said: “There was no skid, it just stopped and couldn’t get going again.

“It was the last vehicle I thought was going to get stuck.

“When we got up there I was quite surprised to see that the main roads weren’t bad at all.”

The window has since been replaced.

He said that deputy head teacher Charles Joseph came down to inspect the situation.

Brockhill Park has been approached for a comment.
