DETAILS of a plan to build a new four star hotel at a golf club have been released.

A planning application has been lodged with Shepway District Council for permission to build the £7.5 million hotel alongside the clubhouse at Lydd Golf Club.

The owners of the golf club - who are also owners of the neighbouring Lydd Airport - say the plan will "create a significant number of new jobs" on Romney Marsh.

The ambitious development will include 75 modern bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a health club and swimming pool, conference, meetings and banqueting rooms and a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Airport managing director Zaher Deir said: "We have had a very positive reaction from local residents since we announced details of this plan earlier this month.

"We think the development of the hotel will complement the airport development and will create a significant number of new jobs here."
