How to nominate a Kent business for the Queen’s Awards For Enterprise in 2020

Businesses in Kent are being urged to throw their hats into the ring for the chance to win the Queen’s Awards For Enterprise in 2020.

These prestigious awards - the highest in the land for industry - are separated into four categories; Innovation, Sustainable Development, Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility) and International Trade.

The awards are made annually by Her Majesty The Queen, and are only given for the highest levels of excellence in each of the above categories.

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Businesses looking to be considered for the prestigious award need to complete their online applications by midday on Tuesday, September 10.

The winners will be notified in March next year before an official announcement is made on April 23, 2020.

Previous business winners in Kent have come from a wide selection of sectors and featured businesses of all sizes and the Lord-Lieutenant encourages any business with a good story to tell to enter these very special awards.

“Past award winners have told me just how much the accolade means to them,” said Lord-Lieutenant of Kent Viscount De L'Isle.

“It enhances their reputation, helps to win more orders, and does wonders for staff morale.

“Entrants should not be deterred by the competitive nature of the scheme; nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

Eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Company must be based in the UK
  • File its Tax Returns with HM Revenue and Customs
  • Be a self-contained enterprise
  • Have at least two full-time UK employees or part-time equivalents
  • Demonstrate strong corporate social responsibility

The award winners will be invited to a royal reception in the summer, followed by a presentation of the award at the company later in the year by the Lord-Lieutenant - The Queen’s representative in the county.
