Learning centre tops the class

A LEARNING centre at Whitstable's Community College has been named the best of its kind. The Education and Business Centre has been awarded the title Top Learning Centre in a School by the University for Industry.

In a survey of the UK done recently at the learndirect headquarters in Sheffield the WEB centre (Whitstable Education and Business centre) at the college was found to be the best.

They praised the numbers of adult learners on the computer, management, Skills for Life courses and commented on the beautiful view out across the bay from the centre.

The learndirect initiative is a government scheme to update the skills of adults in the community and particularly to improve the skills of people in small businesses.

Centre manager Roger Annable said: "The college has been involved with learndirect since the beginning and stayed with it even during its often-frustrating development stage. Now we have an alternative way of learning that better fits modern lifestyles and suits adults who don't like the classroom type of learning."
