Medway firms urged to enter business awards

HAS your business got what it takes to be a winner? If you answer Yes, there's only one thing to do about it...Enter the 2007 Medway Business Awards.

For the 23rd year, this prestigious contest celebrates business achievement in the Medway Towns.

This year's contest is bigger than ever before, with big cash prizes on offer. And there is also a higher turnover limit - £5.6million - to encourage even more businesses to enter.

The word "Small" has been dropped to reflect this change and the increasing importance of businesses of all sizes to the economic success of Medway, the Capital of the Thames Gateway.

It really is time to put your business in the spotlight and show off your achievements. Judges will be looking for those special ingredients that mark you out from the rest.

Medway has a proud business tradition, going back to Dockyard days. But after the closure of the Dockyard in 1984, it struggled to recapture past glories.

But those difficult times are long gone, and the Towns now have a burgeoning reputation for enterprise and business success.

This was clearly shown at the glittering presentation gala last November when 12 firms were celebrated for their excellence.

It was a night of glory for Zilver Designs, a specialist jewellery company that sells its products across the world. The company, based at Fort Horsted, was named overall winner, clinching the £2,000 top prize, while Form, a business that revamps commercial premises, claimed £1,000 as runner-up.

A special community prize went to Housemartins, a Rainham-based home help enterprise, with Impreza Computer Services sccoping the Custonmer Service Award. Both also won £500 cheques. Lifeline Alarms and Security Services was honoured for its commitment to Medway.

Cllr Jane Chitty, Medway council’s protfolio holder for strategic planning and economic growth, said: "Medway is going places. These businesses were very special and these people have a lot of courage."

You too can be singled out as "very special." But only if you enter this year’s awards.

Have you got what it takes? Of course you have.

Go for it. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
