RoyaleLife confirms £10m investment in Reculver Court and Reculver Rise bungalow parks near Herne Bay

Two coastal park home sites are set to be dramatically expanded over the next two years as part of a £10 million investment.

But owners RoyaleLife are upgrading facilities, roads and drainage on the sites as part of ambitious expansion plans with see holiday park lets eventually phased out.

RoyaleLife founder and chief executive Bob Bull, whose company bought the two sites for £300m in 2018, said: “During the next two years we will raise capacity from 300 to 500 plots.

“Plans also include new builds and some redevelopment of existing properties as they become available. We want Reculver to become totally residential eventually, but holiday park arrangements will carry on until tenants reach the end of their agreements.

“This evolution will take Reculver to a whole new level, a flagship bungalow park development.

“The static and touring caravan market was once big business but has been dying. It’s not attracting a new and younger clientele, but the demand from over-45s to downsize and release capital for a high-quality retirement has created a ready market for re-purposing caravan parks as new bungalow communities.

“Planning authorities are broadly supportive too. Changing a caravan site is seen as a planning gain, and most of the construction is offsite, causing minimal local disruption when they are installed.”

Headquartered in Hampshire, RoyaleLife now has 108 gated communities across England and Wales and its CEO is still looking to expand the business.

He explains “I want us to be the biggest provider of high-end bungalow parks.”
