Wholesaler offers internet alternative

AN innovative grocery delivery company aiming to transform the fortunes of Britain’s corner shops is operating throughout Kent from a new depot in Dagenham.

Blueheath is the UK’s first wholesaler to enable independent retailers to buy their supplies on the internet and have them delivered to the door.

They claim that electronic trading is cheaper and more efficient than the traditional methods of cash and carry or wholesale delivery.

The company, launched last Spring by former colleagues at management consultancy McKinsey, has been rolling out its radical new ordering system throughout the UK.

The Dagenham depot serves more than 80 stores throughout Kent from Dartford to the Sussex borders.

"This is a true innovation for the independent retailer," explains Richard Dickens, Blueheath’s Business Development Manager for Kent.

"Traders throughout the area tell us that for the first time they can see a level playing field with the multiples, and a real chance of financial security.

"With the bonus of an excellent local delivery network, our customers in the region can adapt to the supermarket’s way of doing business to suit their own stores. They can concentrate on business development, gain that competitive edge and plan a healthier future," he added.

Michael Daniel of M&P News in Maidstone said: "The efficient service has given me more time and focus for the business, knowing that I am receiving high quality products at cash and carry prices."

After only a few weeks, Blueheath is already delivering to stores in Tunbridge Wells, Bromley, Maidstone and Gillingham as well as many rural locations.
