Business park workshops 'very positive'

A skate park and other leisure facilites were among the wish list to come from workshops about the future use of Eurokent business park at Manston.

Roger Gough, chairman of East kent Opportunities, said the sessions with community groups and residents were “very positive”.

He said: “These workshops considered how best to tackle transport in the area, and there was a general desire to see more people walking or cycling.

“The development of 'green corridors’ linking surrounding sites to Jackey Backer’s sports ground at Ramsgate was also discussed.

“There was a positive reaction to the possibility of mixed-use development at Eurokent, which could see the construction of leisure, housing and offices for the local community.

“There was also a widely-held desire to enhance the Jackey Baker sportsfields, possible through new leisure facilities, such as a centre or skate park.”

The meetings were part of the second phase of consultation that will include a further round of community meetings in the Ramsgate area.
