A 22-year-old man who died after plunging 75ft down a Kent cliff in a car has been identified by police.

Paul Sanders from Alkerden Lane, Swanscombe, was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle careered down the steep bank into a quarry on the border of Northfleet and Swanscombe on Tuesday last week.

Firefighters from Thames-side and Swanscombe stations attended and crews had to clamber over piles of twisted scrap metal and discarded tyres to reach the car, which was on its roof.

A police spokesman said a post mortem has now been carried out and an inquest into Mr Sanders's death was opened and adjourned on Thursday.
