Child airlifted to hospital after breaking leg

An infant school pupil was taken to hospital by air ambulance after falling in a school playground.

The five-year-old boy, who has not been named, is a pupil at Stoke Community School, and was injured on Tuesday afternoon.

It is thought he was in the playground with his other friends when the accident happened.

Staff at the school, in Allhallows Road, Lower Stoke, Rochester, dialled 999 to get help from paramedics.

He was said to be in considerable pain and paramedics decided to call the Kent Air Ambulance because a doctor was needed at the scene.

The boy suffered a clean fracture to his femur and is still in hospital with his leg in traction.

His mother was taken to the hospital by the school's head teacher
