Couple badly hurt as car overturns on M20

AN ACCIDENT involving two cars brought traffic on the M20 a standstill and left two people seriously injured.

The London-bound carriageway was closed between junction 3, the turnoff for the M26, and junction 1 at Dartford following the accident, which happened between junction 2, Wrotham, and junction 1 at 10.30am on Sunday.

The collision involved one vehicle overturning resulting in serious injuries to the woman driver, who was taken by air ambulance to Maidstone General Hospital, and a male passenger who was also taken to hospital by land ambulance.

The husband and wife from Dagenham remain in hospital with the driver’s condition described as serious but not life threatening.

The London-bound carriageway of the M20 was completely closed off for five hours resulting in tailbacks to junction 5 at Aylesford.

Traffic was diverted to the M26 from the M20 at junction 3 and the coast-bound carriageway was closed temporarily for Kent Air Ambulance to attend.
