Couple badly hurt in unprovoked street attack

A COUPLE suffered serious injuries when they were attacked on their way home after an evening out.

The man and woman, aged 57 and 59, were walking along St Mary's Road, Strood, when they were approached by three men.

The men stole the woman's bag and then subjected the pair to an unprovoked assault that lasted for several minutes.

The victims both ended up on the ground and the woman suffered a bad cut on the back of her head, while her partner was kicked and received head injuries that required hospital treatment.

The offenders got away with the woman's bag, which contained cash, a mobile phone and personal items.

A four-door, burgundy-coloured saloon car was seen speeding off along St Mary's Road immediately after the incident, which took place on Saturday, December 3 between 11pm and 11.15pm.
