A man has been cleared of a serious wounding charge after the prosecution offered no evidence against him.

Craig Ellett, of Wakefield Road, Greenhithe, had denied wounding Anton Pla with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

But prosecutor Keith Yardy said the evidence now pointed to “another individual and not this defendant”.

The victim, he added, had sustained serious injuries.

Judge Philip Statman entered a not guilty verdict at Maidstone Crown Court today. Mr Ellett, 29, was not present.
