Crash baby dies in hospital

A BABY girl seriously injured in a road accident in Yalding, near Maidstone, last week has died at Guy's Hospital in London.

The one-year-old girl, from Tonbridge, had been transferred there in a critical condition from Maidstone Hospital following the accident on Monday, November 17. She died on Sunday.

The baby's mother is also still seriously ill with internal injuries following the accident in Hampstead Lane, Yalding.

She was transferred from Maidstone Hospital to King's Hospital, London, for treatment last week. A man and two other children in the car, aged two and three, suffered minor injuries.

The family, all from Tonbridge, have been receiving counselling and support from police and a family liaison officer has also travelled to London to visit them.

The accident, involving two green Vauxhall Vectras, happened near the junction with Lees Road in Yalding at noon.

Kent Air Ambulance was on the scene and the area was closed for four hours while investigations were carried out.

The driver of the other vehicle also suffered minor injuries in the collision.
