Croatia is set to be one of the summer’s hottest destinations for air travellers aiming to beat the credit crunch.

More chartered flights to the Balkan country are being offered from Kent International Airport at Manston after it proved a popular destination last year.

It’s being put down to the strength of the British pound against the Croatian Kuna, since the country is outside the eurozone.

Four different itineraries for Croatian holidays are among the 18 different packages provided by holiday company Newmarket.

The company will offer holidays from Manston from April 14.

Regional Charter Director at Newmarket Holidays Alison Keeble said: "We were testing the water with flights to Croatia last year but the response was phenomenal and it is easy to see why.

"Aside form 1,750km of Adriatic coastline and the wonderful walled city of Dubrovnik, there are stunning lakes, waterfalls and rapids at Plitvice National Park. People can also see a vast Roman amphitheatre at Pula and the stalactites and stalagmites at Postojna.

“There is so much to see and do and because it is outside the Eurozone the British Pound stretches further too."

She added: "While people are understandably being cautious with their money day-to-day this year, for many of our customers a summer holiday is an essential ingredient of a happy life. The opportunity to get away from it all and unwind has never been more attractive."

Commercial and marketing manager at Kent International Airport David Bell said: "Newmarket has unveiled an attractive list of European holidays from Kent International.

"Passengers flying from Kent International benefit from low cost car parking beside the terminal building, 60-minute check-in times with no long walks to the departure gate, and a more relaxing airport experience."
