Did you witness theft of valuable copper cable?

VIGILANT motorists may hold be the key to finding out who is behind the theft of thousands of pounds worth of copper cabling.

Police were alerted to the theft on July 10 by British Telecom workers who noticed that two 1000m lengths of cable, worth around £25,000, had gone missing from ducting installed under a grass verge in Lower Rochester Road, Higham, near Rochester.

The cable was installed during May this year.

Det Sgt Andy Lambert, who is investigating the case, said: “The location where the cable was stolen from is very rural but it may be that a passing motorist noticed something out of the ordinary.”

If you can help, or have information about the theft, call Det Sgt Lambert at Gravesend police station on 01474 565203 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
