Dunelm in London Road Retail Park, Maidstone, shut following emergency incident

A Dunelm homeware store has been closed today due to an emergency incident which saw paramedics and police at the scene.

Staff at the shop in London Road Retail Park, Maidstone, posted on Facebook to say that: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are temporarily closed today.”

Although there has been no official word on the incident, a woman posted on Facebook that she was in the store just after 11am at the time it was closed.

She reported seeing a lady lying on the floor, seeming unwell.

Two ambulances and police officers attended the scene and later the air ambulance attended.

The store has remained closed all day.

Staff in neighbouring businesses said they were aware of the activity of the emergency services but had not been advised of the nature of the incident.

Police said later: “We were called to a medical incident at a retail premises in London Road, Maidstone, at around 11.15am on Sunday.

“Officers attended the scene where they assisted South East Coast Ambulance Service.”
