Ebbsfleet United down to the bare bones for Blue Square Bet Premier game against Southport

Liam Daish admits he is likely to be down to ‘the walking wounded’ for the trip to Blue Square Bet Premier play-off chasers Southport on Saturday.

The Ebbsfleet United boss admits he is looking forward to the end of the season with Fleet’s safety already secure for another season and the play-off places out of reach.

Fleet were 3-2 winners against relegation-threatened AFC Telford at Stonebridge Road on Saturday before Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat at Luton Town, which left them 14th.

Daish said: "We are struggling for numbers at the moment. We’ll take a roll call before Saturday and see what team we can pick from there, see if we can muster a side.

"We haven’t got any fringe players or younger players and it’s too late to register any new players. It’s going to be walking wounded."
