THIS is the face of one of the armed robbers who played a key role in the raid at the Securitas depot in the early hours of Wednesday morning, in which up to £50 million was stolen.

The man posed as a police officer to trick depot manager Colin Dixon, 51, to get into a Volvo car in a layby on the A249 near Stockbury at around 6.30pm on Tuesday.

Mr Dixon was then abducted and forced to help the gang get into the depot to steal the cash. His wife and their young son, who is nine-years-old on Friday, were also kidnapped at around the same time from their home in Herne Bay.

The gang member who posed as a police officer wore a police style cap and high visibility jacket.

He is described as white, 6ft to 6ft 1in tall, with a scruffy ginger beard that was "wiry and wispy" and could have been false, because distinctively his hair is thought to be a different colour.

The man also had freckles on his cheeks and dark eyebrows.

A police expert worked with the depot manager to compile the images.

The Volvo car, Mr Dixon's silver Nissan Almera, and a red van with Parcelforce markings on the side have been recovered by police.
