A KENT seaside town is getting ready to host its first Gay Pride event.

The first Thanet Pride festival is taking place in Margate on Saturday, July 21, to celebrate the diversity and colour of gay life, and promising fun for everyone.

Margate seafront will be closed from the clock tower to the bottom of the High Street and filled with music and entertainment.

Organisers say everyone will be welcome and there will be fun for all the family, including fairground rides, flight simulator, a craft fair and a party atmosphere.

The big Margate Town Partnership Stage will host a full day of events, compered by local entertainer Horace.

Members of the Pride committee are looking for companies or charities who would like to have a stall on the seafront for the day and people who would like to get involved and help out with the event. Anyone who is interested should call Paul at Sundowners on 01843 291299.
