Firefighters free man trapped in bathroom

A FATHER had to be rescued by firefighters after accidentally locking himself in the bathroom.

The man went in for his morning wash but when he tried to get out of the room the door bolt had jammed. He eventually pulled the handle off leaving no option but to call the fire brigade.

The 54-year-old father, who asked not to be named, had to get his two teenage children to dial 999. A crew from Medway fire station turned up at the house in Concord Avenue, Davis Estate, Chatham, 15 minutes later.

Three firefighters asked the man to stand clear as they kicked the door open and got the man out.

He said later: "I was really frustrated. It was an absurd, comic-book situation. My initial humour turned to great concern as I anticipated that I might be stuck in all day."
