A plane had to land on its underside at an airfield at Denton on Monday night after problems with the landing gear.

Firefighters were put on standby at the Lodge Lees airfield when the two-seater reported its wheels could not be activated.

The plane slid to a halt on its underside without trouble. The pilot was unhurt.
