Fire crews tackle Westerham chimney fire

Fire crews were scrambled to the scene of a chimney fire at a house last night in Westerham.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze in Station Road at around 8pm on Sunday (April 2).

Crews contained the fire to the property's chimney stack before it was put out at around 8.40pm.

Following the incident firefighters launched an appeal to homeowners and businesses with chimneys to sign up to KFRS's "Clean Sweep Alert" service.

The service offers support and advice on keeping your chimney clean and safe in a bid to prevent a similar fire.
