Firefighters tackle huge timber yard blaze at Rushenden industrial estate

Firefighters have spent several hours tackling a huge timber blaze at an industrial estate on the Isle of Sheppey overnight.

Crews were called to the building supplier's yard in Rushenden Road, Rushenden, at just after 11pm yesterday.

More than 20 firefighters were needed to put out the flames at the Klondyke industrial estate.

The blaze involved three tonnes of timber in stacked-up pallets, which were burnt to the ground.

The final crew left the scene at around 3am. There were no reported injuries.

Police officers were also at the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown.
