Mark Stimson will continue to monitor young striker Charlie Sheringham despite his move from Bishop’s Stortford this week to Blue Square Premier Histon.

Gills boss Stimson was hoping to see the 21-year-old play in the Gillingham reserve team but a move to Histon on loan with a view to a permanent move could now change things.

Stimson said: "I’ve a good relationship with the Bishop’s Stortford manager and he was willing to let him come in for our reserves.

"Since then he’s moved up a level and so that might not interest him now. We’ll see. We’ve got loads of reserve games coming up and we may speak to Histon."
