Honouring our lifesavers...

Sorry, this video asset has been removed.

Our county's emergency services are unsung heroes.

Every day they risk their lives, and put themselves in danger from the public and the elements, to protect us.

In honour of these brave men and women, KentOnline and kmfm are today launching a week-long emergency services special.

Each day we will focus on a different emergency service - looking at the way they can make the difference between life and death.

Today we focus on the ambulance service.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service serves a population of 4.5 million across five different counties, including Kent. It has 3,000 staff, 63 ambulance stations and emergency 999 calls answered, on average, every 1.14 minutes.

Find out here why one trainee technician decided to join the service.
