FORMER Kent man Graham Jarvis retained his British Trials Championship title with a stunning win in the final round of the Colin Appleyard series at Skipton.

Jarvis effectively sealed the title when closest rival Shaun Morris was unable to take to the start-line for the final round after sustaining a serious eye injury three weeks ago.

Jarvis switched on the style on his MRS Sherco to lead the field home and increase his lead at the top the championship standings in the process.

Jarvis, who has moved to Yorkshire from Sturry, near Canterbury, accrued just 30 penalty points in the final round – 29 less than second placed Michael Brown.

Teenager Alexz Wigg was third with veteran Steve Colley fourth to record 19 years of top 10 results in the championship series – a feat which earned him a special award from the Auto Cycle Union.
