Judge's fury at Yvonne's cheek

A foul-mouthed woman called Yvonne Cheek lived up to her name when she hurled four-letter insults at a judge because he refused to sentence her straight away.

The 52-year-old repeat offender told Judge Charles Macdonald, QC: "Stop wasting your time and taxpayers' money. I don't want any barrister. Well, stuff you. Now adjourn that, you four-eyed ----."

Cheek, of Victoria Road, Gillingham, was appearing at Maidstone Crown Court by TV link from London's Holloway Prison to be sentenced for robbery, burglary and theft.

After Cheek's four-letter outburst, she was taken away.

But Judge Macdonald ordered she be returned to the room and told her: "You insulted the court. I am going to punish you for contempt unless you retract and apologise. If you don't, I will subject you to a consecutive term of custody."

However, Cheek maintained: "I have nothing to lose. I don't apologise to s---. Clear off."

The judge told his clerk: "You can cut her off now, I have had enough of her."
