KM-fm joins in tsunami fund-raising day

KM-FM will make radio history on Monday when it takes part in a huge fund-raising event in aid of the child victims of the Tsunami disaster.

The Kent Messenger Group's six radio stations are joining forces with hundreds of other commercial stations to create UK Radio Aid, a 12-hour nation-wide broadcast.

With the support of Prime Minister Tony Blair, the live programme will include some of the most famous names in radio, alongside stars from music, sport and television.

The likes of Simon Bates, Mark Goodier and Chris Evans will all be involved.

Each hour of programming will be hosted by two guest DJs, introducing exclusive music, special guest interviews, competitions, auctions, pledges, messages and news bullet-ins.

The show, scheduled between 6am and 6pm, is expected to attract the biggest audience in UK radio history as up to 30 million listeners across 250 stations tune in.

To launch the appeal, KM-fm has donated one day's profits to help the tens of thousands of children tragically orphaned by the tsunami.

Listeners will also be encouraged to pledge one hour of their time or money to the Tsunami Earthquake appeal.

KM-fm is encouraging businesses to get involved by inviting employees to donate an hour of their wages to the fund. People can call 0870 512 2288 and donate money using a credit card.

Another idea would be to initiate fun activities, such as a swear box in the office, on the day. All money raised can be given to Barclays Bank who will donate it to the fund.

So be a part of making history, tune in to KM-fm, and help build a future for so many children in South Asia.
