Lisa Dobriskey has been named as part of the 72-strong Great Britain squad for the forthcoming European Athletics Championships.

The 27-year-old (pictured) middle-distance runner will be aiming for success in the 1500m event when the championships in Barcelona take place between July 27 and August 1.

Injuries have hampered the Ashford-born athlete and a third place finish at the recent European Trials and UK Championship left her selection hopes hanging.

Beating her in that event was Hannah England and she too will be representing GB at the championships in the 1500m event.

World 1500m silver medallist Dobriskey will be expected to be one of GB's medal hopefuls but will face a tough battle with England for national supremacy.

Also making the GB team is Montell Douglas, former Chatham resident, who is included in the 4x100m relay squad. She failed to qualify for the 100m individual event.
