Maidstone v Billericay
Maidstone joint-manager Lloyd Hume is calling for Stones fans to give a show of support to chairman Paul Bowden-Brown on Saturday.
The Stones sign off their Ryman League, Premier Division campaign with a home match against Billericay and Hume (pictured) is hoping that there will be significantly more fans in attendance than the 218 who were at Bourne Park for Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat by Harrow Borough.
He said: “I was disappointed for the chairman that the gate was so low on Tuesday. He has had a horrendous year trying to keep the club afloat and he was downbeat after the game.
“I am urging our supporters to turn up in numbers on Saturday as a show of support for Paul, who always said that our target this season would be to consolidate our position in the Ryman League, Premier Division.
“We have achieved that. If we beat Billericay we will definitely finish in the top half even though our squad has been decimated during the past month.”
Jay Saunders, Roland Edge and James Peacock are ruled out because of suspension while Ian Cox has work commitments.
With Meshach Nugent joining James Pinnock on the sidelines with a hamstring injury sustained in last Saturday’s defeat at Ashford, it means that the team for the Billericay game will have an unfamiliar look.
But Hume added: “We have got no choice, we have got to chuck the kids in and we need our fans to get behind them.”
