Man bailed over £53m Securitas raid

POLICE have released a man they were questioning in connection with the £53million robbery at the Securitas depot in Tonbridge on bail.

The 28-year-old was arrested on Saturday afternoon in the Bexley area as part of a joint operation involving both Kent and Metropolitan police officers.

Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man arrested at industrial premises in Welling on Thursday has also been bailed.

He was being questioned on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The bags of cash recovered by police at the industrial premises in Welling are still being examined for forensic evidence.

Police say the exact amount will not be known until that examination has been completed.

A small amount of money was also found at Elderden Farm in Staplehurst.
