A YOUNG man has been interviewed by police following an incident in Deanwood Drive, Parkwood, Rainham, on Saturday December 23.

Officers were called to the area at about 1.30pm following a report of a "firearms incident".

It transpired that the incident involved a firework and not a firearm.

Det Sgt Derek Littler, who is investigating the matter, said: "I would like to thank the vigilant people who alerted police to this incident. I would like to stress that it involved a firework and not a firearm. I hope that residents find this information reassuring.

"A 22-year-old man has been questioned by officers in connection with the incident and our inquiries continue."
