Minister to tour welfare centre

THE Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Dr Lewis Moonie, will visit the Medway Ex-Services Welfare Centre on St George's Day.

He will be there on Tuesday, April 23, from 10am to noon during an open day to learn about the workings of the centre at Chatham's Historic Dockyard. Also attending will be high-ranking military officers and civil servants from the newly-formed Veterans Agency, an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence.

Others there will include Medway Mayor Tony Goulden, local MPs, MEPs and business people from Medway.

Beneficiaries' surgeries will be held that day by partner organisations such as the Royal British Legion and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
