A MURDER inquiry has been launched after a young man died following an assault in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police officers were called to Goudhurst Road in Twydall, near Gillingham, shortly before 2am following reports of an argument in the street between two men.

They found a man in his 20s suffering from serious injuries from which he later died. The man has not yet been named.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being questioned at different police stations in Kent.

A post mortem examination was carried out at Medway Maritime Hospital on Friday.

Both ends of Goudhurst Road and an alleyway that runs off the road were taped off to allow a forensics team to carry out their investigations.

Police want to hear from anyone who heard a disturbance in Goudhurst Road or the Twydall Green area in the early hours of this morning.
