Renewed appeals for information about the murder of Danny King have been made as his widow spoke of "a lovely, family man".

Mr King, 51, known as Shep, was killed at his home in Medina Road, Ditton, early last Friday morning. He was shot four times.

Police who have described the murder as "brutal and horrific" are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

Speaking outside her home on Thursday, Mr King's widow, Sylvia, said: "He was a lovely family man. We haven't had chance to take it all in."

Neighbour, Roy Haycock, said: "He was a very nice man to talk to.

"I once helped Sylvia with her garden and in return when I said I needed some scrap metal to hang a hanging basket Mr King got some for me and wouldn’t take anything for it."

Mr Haycock said he had lived in the area since 1953 and had never known any trouble in the street.

On Thursday, police conducted a one week anniversary appeal by carrying out road checks at the end of Medina Road and New Road.

Motorists were stopped and quizzed to see if they remembered anyone acting suspiciously or anything unusual in the area last week.

Leaflets were also given to motorists and people living nearby in an effort to jog memories.

Ch Insp Tony Thomas, borough commander for Tonbridge and Malling, said: "Part of any major crime investigation is what we call an anniversary event.

"The purpose is to seek new witnesses and new information, not only from passing motorists, but from people who live in the area who may go out for that dog walk at one or two in the morning, who may have seen something that seems insignificant.

"We would urge them to pick up the phone to speak to an officer."

A local neighbourhood policing team will be at a community safety road show on Saturday where officers will answer any concerns people have. It takes place at Tesco, Lunsford Park, Larkfield, at 10am.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Medina Road or New Road area on the evening of Thursday, October 16 and the early hours of Friday, October 17.
