He might be training team USA ahead of London 2012, but a Kent Olympian would love to set up a cycling academy back in his home county.

Jamie Staff, from Ashford, was part of the British cycling team that won gold in Beijing four years ago.

Now he is coaching the USA cycling team for this summer's Games - but wants to help inspire the next generation back in Kent.

The 38-year-old, who visited Ashford's Julie Rose Stadium last week, believes there is demand.

He said: "We used to have cycling tracks and teams in every village decades ago.

"But it would be great to think in the future we could have that again - whether it be a BMX track or something bigger."
