Fined: Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook has been hit with a police fine for using her mobile phone while driving.

The ex-Strictly Come Dancing star is said to have burst into tears when she was stopped in Hadlow Road, near Tonbridge, after being spotted chatting on her phone at the wheel of her 4x4.

The 28-year-old Rochester-born actress, who shares a home near Lenham with actor Billy Zane, was issued with a £60 fine and will also receive three points on her licence.

A witness said Miss Brook was given a "stern talking to" by police and that the actress was apologetic and embarrassed after the incident on Friday, July 25.

It was made illegal for anyone to use their mobile phone while driving in 2003 - and since then fines have risen from £30 to £60.

On Monday, the maximum sentence guideline for drivers who cause death while sending or reading text messages at the wheel officially rose to seven years in jail.
