Police have uncovered a suspected cannabis factory at a house in Margate.

Around 1,000 plants at various stages of growth were discovered at 50 Hartsdown Road on Sunday after police were contacted by concerned residents in the area.

A police spokesman said: “We found evidence of cannabis cultivation in six rooms at this address.

“A crime scene investigation is being carried out and samples of the plants have been sent for scientific analysis.

“A 46-year-old man from the Swanley area was arrested on Monday in Margate on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He was bailed pending further inquiries.”
