YOBS hurling stones off a motorway bridge have been condemned by a police chief.

Stones were thrown off the bridge over the M20 at Aylesford, near Maidstone, two weeks ago.

No-one was injured and no vehicles were damaged, but Maidstone and Malling Police area commander Supt Mark Salisbury said the vandals’ behaviour was “totally reckless”.

“I can’t stress enough how dangerous these sorts of actions are,” he added. “They could have easily caused severe damage to vehicles, and serious injury to those travelling along the motorway at the time.”

Two teenagers were arrested last week for threatening to throw a piece of pipe from a motorway bridge but were later released without charge.
