Robbery gang attack victim with weapon

A 20-year-old man was hit over the head with a weapon during a violent robbery by three men.

The victim was walking along the footpath between Rylands Road and Park Road, Kennington, Ashford, in the direction of the Co-op, when he met two men both wearing hooded tops.

They were walking a dog, possibly a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

He stepped aside to let them pass and carried on walking.

He heard footsteps behind him and turned to see three men running towards him but thought they would pass him.

Then he was then hit from behind and turned to see the trio who were each holding a weapon, which was some form of bat or metal bar.

They threatened him and demanded he hand over his phone and wallet.

The three men, who all wore dark coloured hooded tops and had their face covered with a scarf, ran off in the direction of Rylands Road.

The young man required hospital treatment for a gash to his head.

Police want to talk to anyone with information about the incident, which happened on Thursday, September 4.

In particular officers would like to speak to the two dog walkers as they may have information that would help the investigation.

Anyone with information can contact police on 01233 896280 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
