Rubbish collections resume after snow

Rubbish collections across the district are getting back to normal following problems earlier in the week caused by the snow.

Canterbury council landfill and recycling collections have resumed and most people should now be getting their usual service.

People should leave their rubbish out and if it is not collected on the usual day, it will be the following day.

Garden waste collections will restart on Thursday. Householders who should have had a collection on the first three days of this week will need to wait until their next scheduled collection.

Mark James, from Swale council, said that all available resources were being directed into clearing the borough’s backlog of refuse collections.

“The simple advice is: leave your bin out and we’ll get there eventually. It is anticipated that all collections will be completed by teatime Friday all being well,” he said.

•The weather station at Brogdale, Faversham, recorded 3cm of snow this week.
