Showing off metal masterpieces

The owners of more than 100 vehicles, from classic cars to custom motorbikes, have taken part in the annual Swale Vehicle Enthusiasts’ Classic Car Show.

Almost 700 people attended the event at HBC Engineering Solutions, in Halfway, on Sunday, May 4, when proud owners exhibited their prized vehicles.

Awards were handed out for the best club car, best renovation, best motor, best commercial car, best military car, best pre- and post-war cars and car of the show. Notable vehicles included a vintage Bentley Sports Special and a 1929 Rolls-Royce, one of the oldest cars at the show.

Some of the money raised will go to various Sheppey and Sittingbourne charities.

Swale Vehicle Enthusiasts’ Club chairman Paul Goodhew, one of the founder members, won the car of the show award for his 1992 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, and promised that he was not on the jury.

Mr Goodhew said: “It’s a great event, both for car enthusiasts and families looking for a day out. It’s all about nostalgia.”

The group celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and its 18th exhibiting at HBC Engineering Solutions.
