Sledgehammer threat to staff in raid on college

TWO robbers, one armed with a sledgehammer, forced their way into the finance office of a college while two female members of staff were removing a cash box from an ATM.

The men demanded that the women hand over the box at the Horsted campus of Mid Kent College in Maidstone Road, Chatham, at about 4.45pm on Tuesday.

Having got the cash box the raiders left the site, heading off on foot in the direction of Toys я Us. Police say no-one was hurt during the incident.

One of the men is described as white, 6ft tall and in his early 20s. He is of normal build and was wearing a dark blue hooded top with the hood pulled up.

The second robber is white and slightly shorter than his accomplice. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top.
