I'm a Celebrity winner Joe Swash will get his first taste of Medway's urban jungle today.

The newly crowned King of the Jungle will be starting rehearsals for this year's Christmas Panto at the Central Theatre, Chatham.

Tony Hill, general manager of the Central Theatre, said: “Having the King of the Jungle on our stage will be great for the show and great for the people of Medway.

“The Cinderella box office has been inundated since the start of I’m a Celebrity, and the public are still pouring in for tickets to see Joe live on stage.

"When Joe first started appearing on "I'm A Celebrity" tickets were selling at around twice their usual rate, but now the rate has tripled.

"We broke box office records last year when we signed Shane Lynch from Boyzone for the panto, but this year we're on course to beat that record again.

"There are still seats available, but we would advise customers not to leave it too late to book their tickets this year."

Joes won the public vote of the ITV1 show on Friday night, ahead of tennis ace Martina Navratilova.

You can meet Joe in person on Saturday. The actor will be at the Pentagon Shopping Centre from 11am to noon.

His appearance also helps a council promotion to encourage Christmas shoppers to use Chatham and Medway.

The Salvation Army Band plays at Gillingham High Street that same Saturday, and again in Rainham High Street, on December 20.

At Rochester Cathedral, a Classic FM Christmas carol service takes place on December 18, and the Rochester Cathedral Girl Choristers’ service is on December 20.
