Toilet graveyard in garden

Front garden taken over
by army of toilets

When Carol Keenan plants another pansy her neighbours could be
forgiven for thinking she's gone round the U-bend.

Because the front of her house can resemble a plumber’s
merchants more than a garden.

Carol has amassed an amazing collection of 23 old toilets and a
bidet that she uses to great effect in the garden.

Each of the porcelain structures is now filled with flowering
pansies that attract admiring glances and comments from people
walking past the Willesborough property.

It all started about 15 years ago when Carol took over her late
parents’ home.

She explained: “I had a new bathroom suite fitted and, initially
I left the toilet outside the front door.

“Then a neighbour suggested I have another toilet the other side
of the door to even things up.

“Then people started leaving them, some with cryptic notes
attached to them. Some even came gift-wrapped.

“Santa Claus left me one wrapped in Christmas paper one
year.”

Another time Carol got stopped in a supermarket by a woman who
recognised her from a previous story that appeared in the Kentish
Express about her toilet-filled garden.

Carol said: “She said she was just having two en suites replaced
and would I like her two old toilets and a bidet? I said 'yes
please’.”

The woman said she was happy to get them delivered – and Carol
was amazed when a chauffeur in a Bentley arrived to drop them
off.

Carol said: “I used to plant busy lizzies in them, but that
involved a lot of work, so now I have pansies. I do get people
stopping to take a long look at my collection and even taking
pictures.”
